Those ingredients have helped earn Plano the distinction of being named one of the Top 10 Best Downtowns in America as selected by Livability.com. Plano, ranked eighth on the list, is the only Texas city included in the rankings.
This ranking is a wonderful reflection on how Plano’s downtown continues to grow and evolve to attract residents, businesses, and visitors to this vibrant area of our city. Being located adjacent to the Downtown Plano Station on the DART rail line is a tremendous asset in transporting visitors conveniently to the downtown area.
The Livability.com survey analyzed data on more than 2,000 small to mid-size cities, using figures that indicated low vacancy rates, new development and an influx of people into those new spaces. Additionally, the study focused on culture and nightlife that make cities great places to spend time outside the home, elements such as farmers markets, arts, and parks and whether people take advantage of those assets by dining out and going out. The researchers looked at trends that indicated whether people were in the downtown areas both day and night and also indexes that reflect affordability and diversity.
