Join us in downtown Plano’s Haggard Park for the 12th annual Plano International Festival on Saturday, October 1 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. This free, family-friendly event showcases over 100 global cultures.
This year’s special attractions include a Fitness and Wellness Fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Courtyard Theater and an International Family Film Screening of GAURU presented by Indie Meme from 2:15 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Courtyard Theater. Tickets to the screening are $5 plus a small service fee; kids 5 years old and younger are free, however it is requested that you register them for seating purposes. The Wellness Fair will feature free health screenings and information, plus fitness demos.
Attend a naturalization ceremony, witness a parade of flags and experience many cultural displays. Don’t miss reading and robotics by the Plano Public Library and live art demonstrations with special ikebana displays and demos from the Sogetsu Ikebana Society.
The Children’s Global Village lets kids explore the world through music, STEM activities, crafts, and other fun learning opportunities. The festival features multi-cultural music and dance performances, hands-on and educational kids’ activities, a fashion show, and an art exhibit. Don’t forget about cricket demos by Youth Cricket Scholarship!
One of the festival’s biggest attractions is the food court, which over the years has featured a wide variety of cuisines, including: Indian, Thai, Polish, Mexican, Brazilian, Turkish, Caribbean, Puerto Rican, Mediterranean and American! After eating, drop your plates, food waste, and utensils into organic waste bins for later composting by the City of Plano. This and other green efforts have helped the festival divert 80% of waste from landfill.
We hope you’ll come experience the sights, sounds, and tastes of the world on October 1st!
