Fourth of July Events
On Tuesday, July 3rd get in the Fourth of July spirit at Patriotic Pops presented by the Plano Community Band at Haggard Park in the Downtown Plano Arts District! This free performance will feature Americana and patriotic music. Bring your lawn chair, blanket, and picnic and enjoy an evening of live music and good company. Don’t forget about all the great restaurants to dine at in downtown Plano before the show.
On Wednesday, July 4th kick-off your day at the 39th annual Plano Early Lions Club Independence Day Parade. The parade starts at 9 a.m. from the Plano ISD Administration Building at 2700 W. 15th Street then heads north on Independence Parkway to Plano Senior High School. Line the streets with the kids and watch them smile at all the amazing patriotic floats.
Join the fun in the Downtown Plano Arts District at Haggard Park for free Yoga in the Park from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
The Plano Symphony Orchestra will present an entertaining and inspiring tribute to America, Patriotic Pops, at the Eisemann Center at 3 p.m. Patriotic selections will include: God Bless America, Tribute to American Cinema, America the Beautiful, Sousa Marches, Salute to the Armed Forces, and Pops Hoedown as well as honoring our country and the people dedicated to preserving our freedom. Joining the Plano Symphony will be the Patriotic Pops Chorus and soloists Rayvon Owen, vocals and Glen Hummel, trumpet. This amazing has sold out the last 14 years!
Swim across Texas at The Texas Pool from noon to 6 p.m. Members and veterans (with valid ID) get in free; everyone else is just $10 per person or $30 per family. The snack bar will be open and the grills fired up. Kids and adults alike can enjoy traditional water games like Marco Polo and a cannonball contest. Lifeguards will be on duty and picnic areas are available to enjoy your own Fourth of July picnic (food and coolers with non-alcoholic beverages are allowed).
Then comes what all kids are waiting for… Plano’s All-American Fourth firework show at Oak Point Park & Nature Preserve! Bring your blankets, lawn chairs and the whole family to watch the spectacular fireworks choreographed to music and simulcast on 97.5 KLAK. Admission and parking are free.
