Plano’s newest luxury full-service hotel has officially celebrated its grand opening. The 15-floor 304-room Renaissance Dallas at Plano Legacy West has 16 suites and 19 meeting rooms totaling 30,000 square feet of meeting and event space which includes a 15,000-square-foot ballroom.
East Meets Southwest Vibe
The development is a project of Dallas’ Moon family, the same family that owns Sam Moon Trading Co., a wholesale accessories and handbags retail store, with several locations across Texas. The $131 million hotel is the family’s first foray into hospitality development.
The hotel’s theme, “west of Zen,” is a nod to the family’s Asian roots and its Texas growth. The Moon’s worked to mix Texas and Asian cultures into the hotel’s design from the finishes to the art and the furniture. The hotel embodies wide-open spaces and illustrates the natural movement of the elements. Water and fire features and natural materials are used throughout to anchor the East meets Southwest vibe.
A grand ballroom on the second floor pays homage to the building’s neighbor, the newly opened Toyota North American headquarters. A garage was created specifically for Toyota to bring in its vehicles.
Other amenities include a lobby bar named Whiskey Moon; the Texas Tea House; Oma, a daily restaurant serving Asian fusion cuisine; a fitness center; and an amenity deck with a heated pool, outdoor bar and grill, cabanas and fire pits.
