About Visit Plano
Visit Plano’s Mission Statement: Delivering outstanding services that not only bolsters the economic vitality of Plano, but also enriches the civic and social well-being of the community by fostering a sense of pride and belonging among residents and visitors alike.
Visit Plano is the official destination management and marketing organization for the City of Plano and is completely funded by the Hotel Occupancy Tax. Our goal is to promote Plano as a premier meetings, convention, group, sports and leisure tourism destination and to provide the best possible service to those visiting.
While a Chamber of Commerce promotes individual businesses, Visit Plano is charged with marketing the city as a whole – from hotels and events to restaurants and attractions. To do this, we use targeted communications to attract groups and individual travelers for overnight hotel stays and to boost direct spending in Plano, ultimately increasing overall revenue and providing tax burden relief for each household in Plano.
A robust visitor economy has multiple benefits. During the 2022-23 fiscal year, Plano brought in some 3.7 million overnight visitors. Not only did they spend their money in our hotels (generating the hotel occupancy taxes that fund our efforts), but they also frequented our restaurants, shops, attractions and many other businesses. Overall, in 2023, visitor spending generated more than $1 billion and supported some 8,140 local hospitality industry jobs.
Visit Plano has a dedicated sales team that focuses on association, corporate, government, sports, and SMERF (social, military, education, religious, and fraternal) market segments. The team is responsible for providing the tools and information necessary for meeting and event planners and tournament directors to choose Plano as the host city for their events. Then, the Visit Plano team works hand in hand with the planners in finding them the best venues and hotels to fit their needs. The team will work with them from start to finish to make the planner shine and have the most successful event possible. From housing and transportation coordination to speaker gifts and printed name badges, our Event Services Coordinator can assist with every detail both small and large.
Visit Plano also has a visitor center! It is located in our offices at Legacy West and serves as a resource for visitors and locals alike. Here you will find plenty of brochures and information on attractions and things to do in Plano, the DFW area, and across the state. Stop by, say “hello”, and get some inspiring travel information + a free bottle of cold water or a cup of coffee to start your adventure.
